2017 WRX cannot program Evo ONE

0 votes
Hi,

Today I hooked up all the wriring for my EVO one to my 2017 wrx premium with regualr key.  I had this same unit installed in my 2013 wrx.

I used the T-harness with my install.  I hooked up everything per the instructions except the hood sensor.

When going through programming, everyrthing is good on the first few steps.  Until I get to step where.  I press the program button 6 times.  (at first it would flash and then go to solid red, after updating firmware it goes to solid red and blue).

I go to start the car and it remains solid red and blue  no change.

Looking through the trouble shooting section, It says to check my yellow wire for voltage.  How exactly do I check with my multimeter?  (do i just poke a hole in the wire and test?  ) if I do not get the required numbers what does this mean?

Also, is the yellow wire A1 wire?

Thank you!

Yes A1 is the yellow wire.

It should test as an ignition, meaning 0 volts key off and 12 volts key on and should NOT drop when cranking the vehicle.

I will double check tonight.

If the test fails what does this tell me?

Say it passes and the readings are correct, what does this tell me?

Just wondering since I will have all the wires out and wanted to trouble shoot as much as I can at once.
If it faisl it means it is not connected to ignition.

If it passes then you need to look at the immobilizer connections.
Thank you for the help,  I ended up getting it to work.  The yellow wire was hooked up to the wrong wire.

Now the Evo one is all programed up I cannot get my RF remote kit to work.

I have a computar pro t11 remote that I used on this kit when it was installed on my 13 wrx.  Right now I cannot get it to program to my 17 wrx.

When looking through the RF remote instructions (cannot find one for this exact model but was doing any of the other compustar instructions).  When I turn the ignition on and hold the valet button, the car will honk and parking lights will come on,  I press the button once parking lights flash, then when i press the brake pedal then the lock on my remote, nothing happens.

Also, when I try the other option (5x valet button programming) when I get to the 5th press, the parking lights flash twice in a row.  Still nothing.

I did not hook up any wires to my brake switch.  I had to on my 13 wrx do I have to do this as well on the 17 wrx?

What could be other reasons?  I do not remember resetting the evo one.

I can press the buttons on the computar remote and my car lights do flash and honk but doors do not lock or unlock.

When trying to remote start I get the 3 flashes which means the ready mode is not active.  I have tried a few times getting the ready mode to activate and nothing.
You car is manual transmission?

How are you setting ready mode?
Yes manual transmission.

With the car running, I put it in netural, hand brake up, foot off the brake, I hold and press the remote start on my compustar remote until I hear a click or see the flights flash  ( I believe the dash lights are flashing twice?).  Remove the key the car shuts down.

So I know it is not getting into ready mode because the car would be running after. until I open and close my driver door.
Try turning on option 33.2 in the remote starter options (which won't require any input from your rf kit) and see if you can then enter reservation mode.

If not count the number of flashes, this is an error code telling you why it won't go into reservation mode.
So when trying to go into ready mode I get 3 flashes. What does that mean?

I also turned on 33.2 and same deal.
33.2 does not show to have been changed when i check the service number....

3x flash means ready mode disabled....so tach, doors, brake, handbrake something isn't right....

Just to make sure the remote start works you can try the follow but it is at your own discretion/risk.

- Disconnect the power from the unit

- cut the yellow loop

- re connect power

- ensure car is in neutral and hand brake is applied

- try remote starting the car...does the car run and stay running?
Derek, thank you for the response.  I just got back from troubleshooting a few mins ago and was suscessful in gettting ready mode to work.

I first double checked the voltage for the CAN bus wires and they were correct.  I reset the bypass and reprogrammed to the car, I think went through the options and reset the remote starter side.  The car goes into ready mode, the compustar pro remote works everything is good, however, the clutch bypass does not work.

Per instructions, I tapped into the clutch wire using the Tharness.  The car will remote start if I press the clutch in but will not remote start on its own.  Any thoughts?
maybe you are on the wrong side of the connector. The wire you connected to how does it test when you crank the vehicle with the clutch fully depressed.
